Christopher Murphy, Jr. (1902 – 1973) was born in Savannah, Georgia and received his art education at the Art Students’ League of New York, the Beaux Arts Institute, and the Telfair Academy of Savannah. He was an artist and teacher and is best known for his etchings of Savannah. Murphy was a member of the Tiffany Guild, served as Vice President of the Savannah Art Club and was President of the Georgia Association of Artists. His etchings won many awards and were widely exhibited in museums, including the Albert and Victoria Museum, London and the Art Institute of Chicago.
