Clare Romano ( 1922 – 2017 ) an American painter, printmaker, educator and author. Born in Palisade, NJ, she received her education at Cooper Union. A Fulbright Scholarship allowed her to continue her studies in Fointainbleau, France and Florence, Italy. Returning to the US, Clare taught printmaking at the Art Center of Northern NJ, New School University, NYC and the Pratt Institute. She co-authored, with John Ross, “The Complete Printmaker” and “The Complete Collagraph”. Known mostly for her collagraphs and woodcuts, Romano has received numerous awards, exhibited internationally and has been collected by many major museums.
