Linda Whitney is a master mezzotint printmaker from Valley City, North Dakota. She received her MFA (University of North Dakota) in Art with an emphasis in printmaking. In 1994, Linda accepted the position of Assistant professor of Art at Valley City State University. She has won numerous awards for her color intaglio prints, however since her retirement in 2014, now focuses on mezzotint printmaking for which she has also received many awards. Linda serves as assistant director of the International Mezzotint Society and was named a Mezzotint Ambassador at the IV International Mezzotint Festival in Ekaterinburg, Russia.
Whitney has exhibited in over 80 national and international juried exhibition throughout the US, Armenia, Serbia, Russia China, France, Mexico, Poland, India, Greece, Indonesia, Italy and Iran.
Her current body of work “honors the original people of this continent”. Staying true to her uncompromising desire for excellence, Linda choose to create 4 different mezzotints, all similar in theme for this year’s presentation print.
