Artist Statement
My art is based on the ideas of unconscious thought. It is inspired by the ideas of Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung and other pioneers in psychiatry. While I overthink most things art is the one thing that I do that comes naturally without as much questioning. Whether it is clay, printmaking or photography, my art is spontaneous.
This type of thought process applies to all parts of the process. From the construction of the piece, to the color it is experimental with a seemingly rushed process.
Due to my process, my art is perceived as abstract and while there is some abstraction, there are also some realistic aspects. However, those aspects are only implied. I am a big believer in viewers being able to interpret the art for themselves as well as the art bringing back their own thoughts and memories.
