Ernest Watson (1884 – 1969) was born in Conway, Massachusetts. He received his education at Massachusetts College of Art and an Art Education degree from the Pratt Institute, where he later taught. Watson was an artist, teacher and author of numerous art books. He co-founded the Berkshire Summer School of Art and was art editor of Scholastic Magazine. Many museums and institutions, including the Smithsonian, the Library of Congress and the New York Public Library, have collected Watson’s work.
